Two times already President George W. Bush vetoed bi-partisan bills that would provide health care for 10 million children in working families through the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Bush has promised to continue to veto the bill, despite widespread support among voters of both major parties. Bush’s veto demonstrates clearly that uninsured children are not a priority for his party or administration.
