“Bread & Roses” was named for the labor hymn which reminds us; Hearts starve as well as bodies… Bread & Roses feeds that hunger by being a fun and inspirational event that each year calls for submission on a different theme, drawn from the struggles and ongoing campaigns in the Jobs with Justice Coalition. This year’s submissions are films and spoken word pieces focused around the theme Critical Condition: Health Care in America featuring: “Blunt Trauma” a documentary by Jobs with Justice’s member organizations GRO about the impact of Medicaid cuts and “Farming Was My Life” a documentary by Missouri Rural Crisis Center about the impact of factory farms on the health of rural communities.
